| Plant Name | | PERSICARIA bistorta Superba | | Plant Description | | Know also as Polygonum bistorta Superbum in older reference books.
(These name changes are the bane of a growers life!! )
SHADE. For all the world like a dock; similar leaf, same green,
.....until the superb fluffy baby pink flowers show in late spring
& thru summer. A lovely plant, and one of my favourites.
Happy in either full sun or light shade, as long as the soil is on
the moist side, not dry. A bog plant in some countries. A little
fertiliser before & after
flowering will aid the growth as it really throws itself into
blooming, once it is established.
The plant is a vigorous clump forming perennial with a height &
spread of around 60cm, when adult. Deadheading the finished
spikes will extend the display, & if you want, it's & not hard
to shift.
Mark the planting place well. Winter dormant, slow to start
showing, so don't over plant. Very Hardy.
