| Plant Name | | ABUTILON megapotamicum yellow | | Plant Description | | SHADE. The small species yellow version of the A. megapotanicum. Tan tops to the bells, rather than red.
I have been able to train these prostrate forms into higher ones to allow a useful shade area under their branches.
Simply take off the low branches as they form, when just small buds, & keep the foliage at the top. Let the stem grow to
the desired height, say 75cm, or even 1m, then pinch out the top. This lets the bush develop into an umbrella, & as such,
with underplanting & the draping branches with their pendant flowers makes a lovely specimen plant.
This process may take a couple of seasons but is well worth the trouble. For prostrate or basket forms, just pinch out the growing tip straight away.
