| Plant Name | | SHRUB: LEONOTIS leonurus. Orange Lions Ear | | Plant Description | | SUN. The velvety bright orange whorled flowers of the Leonotis used to be quite common, but it's much harder to find now.
A very tall, 2m high plant, with a spread of around 1m at the base. Flowering in summer & autumn, it is spectacular. Leave it to grow tall, flowering above the plants in front of it,
or to get the best show, cut down the young growth to around 15cm in early spring. This will make the plant more bushy, with lots more flowers, & it won't be as high.
Grow in full sun, in fertile well drained soil. Divide or reduce it's bulk every 3rd winter, as it can become pretty massive, & the middle can get thin. Very hardy.
